about

Maxim Belciug is “a prominent name in the special world of Romanian guitar music”, as Virgil Oprina knowingly wrote in a review published in 2009. Restless, involved in many projects alongside other musicians and singers – many of whom owe him their fame – he discretely succeeded in building a solid reputation as the promoter of acts of culture based on sincerity and altruism. Enamored not just of the guitar, but even more of the beauty that such an instrument can share, Maxim Belciug is perpetually in search of a “repertoire that does not seek the flashy expressions of musicianship, often mere sterile gymnastics, and manages to find a rare thing: accepting, in the most natural way, the condition of a musician. It means being a man who, overwhelmed by his love for music and for his chosen instrument, has a single purpose – to bring before his public the feeling he experiences when taking in each piece of music. Listening to him, you feel that somebody is talking about things you, too, have once lived through, but have forgotten”.

Maxim Belciug Bucharest, Romania

I’m only interested in music that keeps sounding different than the more or less rhythmic loop of the coppers from one hand to another. I only play music I love. I hope you love it too." ... more
